Description
ADCENG is the only manufacturer of liquefied petroleum gas vapourisers in South Africa and designs and manufactures under the ADCENG label electrically-heated or direct-fired units in eight models with capacities ranging from 25 to 250 kg/h LPG and larger.
All models are manufactured to SABS recommendations.
Range
Electrically-heated units are available in capacities of 25, 30, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/h LPG. While direct-fired units are made with capacities of 80 or 160 kg/h LPG.
ADCENG vapourisers are robust and designed for low maintenance, long-life operation.
Units can be manifolded together in order to give larger capacities with economical standby facilities.

Electric units
The electrically-heated vapourisers incorporate explosion-proof element housings. The elements are immersed in an ethylene glycol heat transfer fluid. The ethylene glycol transfers heat to a tube system in which incoming liquid gas is vaporized. A liquid trap acts as a safety device to prevent liquid passing into the gas discharge line in the event of a power failure or demand exceeding vapouriser capacity. Heating elements are thermostatically controlled to maintain the heat transfer liquid at the correct operating temperature.
Direct-fired units
Direct-fired vapourisers incorporate a pressure vessel heated by a gas burner supplied from the vapour outlet line. A thermostat in the pressure vessel maintains the correct temperature by controlling the gas burner supply. As with electrically-heated vapourisers, a liquid trap prevents ingress of liquid gas into the vapour line. A pilot burner is provided and gas supply to the burners will be closed down automatically should the pilot flame fail.
Selection and Installation
The vapouriser selected should have adequate capacity to cater for the total load of all consumption points. If a vapouriser is overloaded or an excessive demand for gas is experienced, supply will be limited to the vapouriser’s capacity by the liquid inlet valve. Electrically-heated units are most popular because they require servicing only twice a year. Direct-fired units, while simply installed where insufficient or no electricity supply exists require monthly servicing. Selection should be made using the capacity tables below. Installation must be carried out in accordance with instructions accompanying each unit.
